Bureau Veritas Celebrates AQAC Laboratory Approval and Registration by IPAN

Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services and African Export-Import Bank’s (Afreximbank) technical partner on the African Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC), is proud to announce that the African Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC) laboratory has been approved and registered as an independent analytical laboratory by the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN).

This milestone underscores Bureau Veritas' role as a trusted partner in driving quality, safety, and sustainability across Africa's diverse industries and markets. The AQAC laboratory will enable local and regional stakeholders to access reliable, high-quality testing services, fostering confidence and competitiveness in the African marketplace.

The laboratory was recently awarded the prestigious ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) for Chemical and Microbiological Analysis in July 2024, an internationally recognized standard demonstrates the laboratory's technical competence, reliable processes, and commitment to quality.

The Afreximbank Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC) is situated on a 5-hectare plot along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria. This strategic location places the AQAC just 65 kilometers from Lagos, Nigeria's primary port city and commercial capital, and 75 kilometers from Ibadan, a major commercial and industrial center in southwestern Nigeria. The AQAC's role is to ensure that "Made in Africa" products adhere to the necessary safety and health standards, both for domestic consumption and international export. This helps to improve the acceptability and competitiveness of African products in global markets.

"We are proud to celebrate the approval of AQAC as an independent analytical laboratory by IPAN," said Jean Michel Perret, Bureau Veritas Nigeria Managing Director. "This achievement reinforces our dedication to providing world-class testing, inspection and certification services, ensuring that products meet standards and regulations at export destinations within & outside of the African continent. By supporting the development of robust quality infrastructure, we aim to facilitate trade, enhance food safety, and contribute to the sustainable economic growth of the region."
